Problema Solution

I you had a budget of 2000 and wanted to buy a conference table for 319.00 and chairs for 219.99 how many chairs can be purchased without going over budget? If x is the price of a chair what algebraic expression would be written to represent this problem?

Answer provided by our tutors

the total money spent on 1 conference table and 'c' chairs (c is integer, c >0) should not go over the budget of $2000 that is

319 + 219.99*c <= 2000

c <= 1681/219.99 < 8

c < 8

not more then 7 chairs can be purchased without going over the budget of 2000.

if x is the price of one chair we will have the following expression

319 + x*c <= 2000

x*c <= 1681

c < = 1681/x
