Problema Solution
A coffee can is 3/4 full of beans. The can is 8 inches tall with a diameter of 6 inches. How many, in in^3 beans are in the can?
Answer provided by our tutors
the volume on the can is a volume of cylinder with diameter d = 6 in and height h = 8 in
V = (d/2)^2*pi*h
V = (6/2)^2*pi*8
V = 72pi in^3
3/4 of the can will have volume of (3/4)V
(3/4)V = (3/4)*72pi = 54pi = 169.56 in^3
there are 169.56 in^3 beans in the can.
