Problema Solution

A cylinder has a diameter of 10 cm and a height of 15 cm. it is only 1/4 full. what is the volume.

Answer provided by our tutors

d = 10 cm the diameter

r = d/2 is the radius of the cylinder

h = 15 cm is the height

pi = 3.1416

the formula for volume of a cylinder is

V = r^2*pi*h

V = (10/2)^2*pi*15

V = 375pi cm^3

V = 1178.1 cm^3

the volume of the entire cylinder is 1178.1 cm^3.

we will find the volume of the full part of the cylinder

(1/4) V = (1/4)*375pi = 93.75 pi = 294.524 cm^3

the volume of 1/4 of the cylinder is 294.524 cm^3.
