Problema Solution

a swimming pool is 8 feet deep, 25 feet long, and 12 feet wide. the water in it comes up to a level 2 feet below the top edge. find the volume of water in the pool.

Answer provided by our tutors

we will assume that swimming pool is in the shape of a rectangular prism with dimensions:

l = 25 ft length

w = 12 ft width

h = 8 ft height

the water in it comes up to a level 2 feet below the top edge thus we have to calculate the volume of a rectangular prism that has a height 2 ft less then the height of the pool. The dimensions of this rectangular prism will be

l1 = 25 ft length

w1 = 12 ft width

h1 = 8 - 2 = 6 ft height

the volume of a prism V = length*width*height

V = 25*12*6

V = 1800 ft^3

since 1 ft = 0.3048 m follows 1 ft^3 = (0.3048)^3 m^3

V = 1800 * (0.3048)^3 m^3

V = 50.9703 m^3

1 m^3 = 1000 l of water

V = 50,970.3 l

the volume of water in the pool is 50,970.3 liters.
