let assume that we are dealing here with a trapezoid median and let 'a' and 'b' be the lengths of the bases of the trapezoid
before the decrease the median is equal to (a + b)/2
after the decrease the median is equal to (a + b - 20)/2 = (a + b)/2 - 20/2 = (a + b)/2 - 10
the length of the median is decreased by 10 cm.
