Problema Solution
If a picture of a tre 4.25in.tall & the scale is 1 in =30'. If the same tree is on a different scale of 1" =15' how tall is the 2nd?
Answer provided by our tutors
let 'h' is the real height of the tree
the tree is 4.25 inches tall and the scale is 1 in = 30 ft = 30*12 = 360 in
4.25 : h = 1 : 360
h = 4.25*360
h = 1530 in
h = 127.5 ft
the same tree is on a different scale of 1" =15' that is 1 in = 15ft = 15*12 = 180 in
let the d = the height of the tree according to the 2nd scale
d : h = 1 : 180
d : 1530 = 1 : 180
by solving we find
d = 8.5 in
