A bag of mixed nuts contains only almonds and hazelnuts. The bag has 3x-7 hazelnuts, and 6x+13 nuts in all. What expression represents the number of almonds in the bag?

out of 6x+13 nuts in all 3x-7 are hazelnuts thus the number of almonds is
(6x + 13) - (3x - 7) = 6x + 13 - 3x + 7 = (6x - 3x) + (13 + 7) = 3x + 20 almonds.
