Hockey Players Recieve 2 points when they win and 1 point when they tie. One season a team won a champianship with 58 points. They won 11 more games than they tied. How many wins and how many ties did the team have?

Let w be the number of wins and t be the number of ties,
2w + t = 58
w = t + 11
Substitude w = t + 11 in the first equation,
2(t + 11) + t = 58
2t + 22 + t = 58
3t + 22 = 58
3t = 36
t = 12
Now plug t = 12 in the second equatin to get w,
w = t + 11
w = 12 + 11
w = 23
So the number of wins is 23 and the number of ties is 12
