A train leaves a station at 80 km/h. 2 hours later another train leaves the station traveling at 110 km/h. How many km from the station will they meet?

v1 = 80 km/h the speed of the first train

t = the time of the first train

v2 = 110 km/h the speed of the second train

t - 2 = the time of the second train

d = the distance

Since they both travel the same distance and distance = speed*time we have

v1*t = v2(t - 2)

80t = 110(t - 2)

by solving we find

t = 22/3 hr

d = v1*t

d = 80*(22/3)

d = 586.67 km

they will meet 586.67 km from the station.
