Problema Solution

We must create a license plate code that consists of two letters followed by three digits. The letters cannot repeat, but the digits may. How many such license plate codes can be formed?

Since there are 26 letters in the English alphabet the number of sequences of 2 letters without repeat is:

26*25 = 650

Since there are 10 digits the number of sequences of 3 digits with repeat is:

10*10*10 = 3^10 = 1000

the number of such license plate codes is:

650*1000 = 650,000 license plate codes.
