Problema Solution
A group of students went to Dairy Queen to buy ice cream cones. Each students bought a double scoop cone with two different flavors. None of the students chose the same flavor combinations. If DQ has nine ice cream flavors, how many students were there?
Answer provided by our tutors
the number of pairs of two different flavors out of 9 flavors is:
C(9, 2) = 9!/(2!(9 - 2)!)
C(9, 2) = 9!/(2*7!)
C(9, 2) = 8*9/2
C(9.2) = 36
this means that the maximum number of students that ate ice cream is 36.
