Alvin loves reading books. on the average, it takes him 1 3/4 hours to finish reading 45 pages of a book. if he maintains this rate and reads for 2 11/12 hours on Saturday and twice as long on Sunday, how many pages will he able to read in all?

1 3/4 hr = (4 + 3)/4 = 7/4 hr
the reading rate of Alvin is:
v = 45/(7/4) pages per hhour
v = 180/7 pages per hour
Saturday he reads for 2 11/12 = 35/12 hours and total of (35/12)*v = (35/12)(180/7) = 75 pages
Sunday he reads for 2*(35/12) = 35/6 hour and total of (35/6)(180/7) = 150 pages
in all he will be able to read:
75 + 150 = 225 pages.
