Normally it takes 3 hours to fill the pool, but Bob left the drain partly open and today it took 5 hours to fill. After the pool was full, Bob turned off the hose and went home not realizing he left the drain open. How long until the pool is empty again?

the rate of the hose is 1/3 pools per hour
lets assume the drain needs x hour the empty to pool
the rate of the drain is 1/x pools per hour
1/3 - 1/x = 1/5
by solving we find:
x = 7.5 hr
