Working together, two people can cut a large lawn in 3 hr. One person can do the job alone in 1 hr less than the other. How long would it take the faster person to do the job?

1/x lawns per hour is the rate of the faster person
x + 1 = the hours the slower person need to cuth the lawn alone
1/(x + 1) lawns per hour is the rate of the slower person
1/3 is lawns per hour the together rate (they can cut the lawn together is 3 hours)
now we have:
1/x + 1/(x + 1) = 1/3
by solving we find:
x = 5.54 hr
