Problema Solution
Mr smith traveled to a city 380 miles from his home to attend a meeting. Due to a car trouble, his average speed returning was 11 mph less than his speed going. If the total time for the round trip was 11 hours, at what rate I speed did he travel to the city?(round off your answer to the nearest tenth.)

let
v = the average speed going to the city, v>0
v - 11 = the average speed returning was 11 mph less than his speed going, v - 11>0, v>11
d = 380 mi the distance traveled in one direction
since speed = distance/time we have time = distance/speed
the time going to the city + the time returning to the city = 11 hours
d/v + d/(v - 11) = 11
380/v + 380/(v - 11) = 11
by solving we find:
v = 75 mph
