Answer provided by our tutors
let
t = the number of tomato plants
c = the number of cucumber plants
19 = the number of pepper plants
There are 5 times as many tomato plants in the garden as there are cucumber plants:
t = 5c
The number of pepper plants is 7 more then the sum of the number of tomato and cucumber plants:
t + c + 7 = 19
by solving the system of equations:
t = 5c
t + c + 7 = 19
we find:
c = 2 cucumbers
t = 10 tomatoes
