Normally it takes 3 hours to fill the pool, but Bob left the drain partly open and today it took 5 hours to fill. After the pool was full, Bob turned off the hose and went home not realizing that he left the drain open. How long until the pool is empty again? (show all five problem solving steps)

rate of filling = x/3
rate of leakage = y
so, x/3 - y = x/5
so y = 4x / 15
so, time taken for tank to be emptied = 15/4 hours = 3 hr 45 min
