Problema Solution
The pressure (p) of a gas varies directly with temperature (t) and inversly with the volume (v).
a) Find the constant of the variation (k) of a gas if a pressure of 121 kpa results from a volume of 45 liters of this gas at a temperature of 33" Celsius.
b) Suppose that the temperature and the volumn changes resulting in this gas now exerting a pressure of 75 kpa. If the temperature is now 25' celcius, find the volume.
Answer provided by our tutors
pressure (P)
volume (V)
temperature (t) in kelvin
constant (k)
1) P = (k*t)/ v
so, k = (p*v)/t
k = (121*103 * 45) / (273+33)
so, k = 17.79 kpa l / K
2) k = (p*v)/ t
so, v = kt/p
v= (17.79*298)/75
v= 70.70 l
