If a freight train was traveling at 60mph and a passenger train was travelling at 75mph, how far apart would they be after passing each other 6 hours ago going in opposite directions?

since they are going in opposite direction the distance between them is equal to the sum of the distances that each will pas:
distance = speed*time
60*6 + 75*6 = 260 + 450 = 710 miles
after 6 hours the trains will be 710 miles apart.
