Problema Solution
A manager schedules employees to cover evening shifts. There are 9 shifts on Monday, 11 on Tuesday, 13 on Wednesday, 13 on Thursday, 15 on Friday, 16 on Saturday, and 12 on Sunday. If each employee can work an average of 4.5 shifts, how many employees would the manager need to cover all evening shifts for the week?
Answer provided by our tutors
the total number of shifts to be covered for the week is:
9 + 11 + 13 +13 + 15 + 16 + 12 = 89 shifts
let x be the number of employees needed to cover 89 shifts then
4.5x = 89
by solving we find:
x = 19.78
since the number of employees can only be integer the solution is 20 employees are needed to cover 89 shifts.
