Problema Solution
One side of a regular hexagon is greater than the side of the other by 1cm. The product of areas of both the regular hexagons is 243. Find the sides of both the hexagons.
Answer provided by our tutors
Area of a rgular hexagon of side s =3√3 /2 s^2.
Let x be the side of one hexagon so the side of other hexagon is (x+1).
Product of areas =3√3 /2 x^2*3√3 /2 (x+1)^2 =243.
27/4 x^2 (x+1)^2 =243.
x^2(x+1)^2 =36.
The possible value of x =2.
If we susbtitute x=2 then 2^2*(2+1)^2=36.
Side of first hexagon =2 cm.
side of second hexagon =2+1 =3 cm.
