Problema Solution

An elevated rectangular water tank contains 3,963 gallons. It is connected to an empty tank which is in the form of a frustum of a cone located below its base. The radius of the upper base and the lower base are 1.50 meters and 0.50 meters respectively.The height of the said tank is 3.75 meters. if the water is allowed to flow from the upper tank to the lower tank, determine the number of gallons of water that spilled out.

Answer provided by our tutors

Volume of Frustum of Right Circular Cone = (1/3)PI(r^2 + rR + R^2)h

r = small radius

R = large radius

h = height

so volume=12.75625 cubicmetre=12756.25 Litre

=3369.845 Gallon say 3370 Gallon

so (3963-3370) gallon=593 gallon will be wasted
