Problema Solution
A motel clerk counts his $1 and $10 bills at the end of a day. He finds that he has a total of 61 bills having a combined monetary value of $214. Find the number of bills of each denomination that he has.
Answer provided by our tutors
let no of $1 bills = x and no of $10 bills =y
from given x+y=61 and x+10y=214
substracting equ1 and equ2 we get
9y=153
y=17
substitute y in equ1
x=61-17
x=44
