Problema Solution

PLEASE HELP ME TO THE FOLLOWING:

The ratio of Shu Yee's saving to Hida's savings is 3:2. Their total savings is equal to 3/8 of Qiang Long's savings. After Shu Yee and Hida each saved another $89, the ratio of Shu Yee's savings to Qiang Long's savings becomes 1:4. How much money does Hida have at first?

Answer provided by our tutors

At first

Shu Yee: 3x

Hida: 2x

Qiang Long: (3x+2x)/(3/8) = 40x/3

Later

Shu Yee: 3x+89

The equation is

3x+89 = (40x/3)/4

We solve it

x = 267

So 2x = 2*267 = 534

Hida has $534
