A rectangular garden is 5 feet longer than twice its width. It has a sidewalk 3 feet wide on two of its sides. The area of the sidewalk is 213 square feet. Find the dimesions of the garden.

length 1: 2x+5

length 2: 2x+8

width : x + 3

Hello there, i was a bit unsure with the wording of the problem, but it think i've got it.

let the length of the garden be L, and the width of the garden be W.

we know that L = 5 + 2W

for the path (2 of them)

213 = 2(3xL)

L = 35.5ft

putting L into original equation we get W = 15.25ft
