Problema Solution

The time that it takes to get to campus varies inversley as your driving rate. Averaging 10 miles per hour in terrible traffic, it takes you 3.5 hours to get to campus. How long would the trip take averaging 70miles per hour? The trip would take ______Hr.

Answer provided by our tutors

Let t be the time taken to reach the campus and R be the driving rate.

Since the time taken varies inversely as the driving rate, we have

t = C/R, where C is a constant.

=> tR = C

=> t1 * R1 = t2 * R2

=> 3.5 * 10 = I2 * 70

=> I2 = 0.5 hours.

So the trip would take 0.5 hour.
