Problema Solution

the plane area shown in the in the figure consists of an isosceles trapezoid(non- parallel sides equal) and a segment of a circle. If non- parallel sides are tangent to the segment at points A and B, Find the area of the composite figure?

Answer provided by our tutors

The isosceles trapezoid can be broken into 2 identical right triangles and one rectangle. Use whatever data they have given you to figure out all the sides and angles.

Now for the segment of the circle. They've told you it is tangent to the segment at A & B. The other fact is that the radius from the center of the circle to points A & B will be perpendicular to the tangent. Use this and the other info to figure out the radius and the angle between the two ends of the circle. That will let you calculate the area of the total segment (PI * r^2 * Angle/360). From that, you want to subtract the triangle A, B, Center of Circle
