If a plane can travel 500 miles per hour with the wind and
420 miles per hour against the wind, find the speed of the
plane in still air.

Speed with the wind => S +W = 500...................(1)
where s= plane spped and w = wind speed
simillarly sppeed against the wind = S - W = 420 .................(2)
Now by adding these equations we get
2S =500+420 = 920 hence S = 920/2 = 460 Miles per hour is right answer
