Problema Solution

a golfer hits his T-shot along a flat fairway at 40 degrees to the horizontal with an initial spped of 150 feet per second.What is the maimum height to which the ball rises?.

Answer provided by our tutors

We assume the time in the air is t, the max height is H.

The vertical speed is 150*sin(40) = 96.42 ft/s

The horizontal speed is 150*cos(40) = 114.91 ft/s

So

t = 2*96.42/ 32.15 = 6 s

H = (96.42 ft/s)^2 / (2*32.15) = 144.6 ft

So the max height is 144.6 ft
