Problema Solution
a golfer hits his T-shot along a flat fairway at 40 degrees to the horizontal with an initial spped of 150 feet per second.If the ball is hit with the same initial speed but at 60 degree to the horizontal what is the range?
Answer provided by our tutors
The vertical speed is 150*sin(60) = 129.90 ft/s
The horizontal speed is 150*cos(60) = 75 ft/s
The time in the air is t, the range is S.
t = (2*129.90 ft/s) / 32.15 ft/s2 = 8.08 s
S = 75 ft/s * 8.08s = 606.1 ft
So the range is 606.1 ft.
