Problema Solution
Trains A and B are traveling in the same direction on parallel tracks. Train A is traveling at 100 miles per hour and train B is traveling at 120 miles per hour. Train A passes a station at 3:20 A.M. If train B passes the same station at 3:35 A.M., at what time will train B catch up to train A.
Answer provided by our tutors
distance at 3:35= 15 mins * speed of train A.
so, distance= 1/4 *100= 25 miles.
speed of B= 120mph and of A= 100 mph.
so, relative speed= 120-100= 20 mph
time= 25/20 = 1.25 hours = 1 hour 15 mins.
so, trains B will catch up A at 4:50 am.
