a = length = h+2
b = height = h
c = diagonal = length + 2 = h+2+2 = h+4
so you have
(h+2)2+h2 = (h+4)2
h2+4h+4 + h2 = h2+8h+16
2h2+4h+4 = h2+8h+16
h2-4h-12 = 0
(h-6)(h+2) = 0
h-6 = 0
h = 6
or h+2 = 0, h = -2, but height can't be negative so use h=6
diagonal = h+4 = 6+4
so the diagonal is 10 inches
