A plane with a tail wind is traveling at a speed of 397 mph. On the return trip travel into the same wind the plane averages 381 mph. What was the average speed for the trip and what was the wind speed?

The speed with no wind: y
So the equation is
y+x = 397
y-x =381
SO
x = 8
The average speed = (391+381)/2 = 389 mph
