Problema Solution
A bicyclist tops the crest of a 20m high hill moving with a speed of 1m/s. Ignoring friction find the speed of the bicycle at the bottom of the hill.
Answer provided by our tutors
The speed of the bicycle at the bottom of the hill is v
The equation is
1/2 mv^2 = 1/2 m(v1)^2 + mgh
v^2 = v1^2 + 2gh = 1^2 + 2*9.8*20
v = 19.82 m/s
So the speed of the bicycle at the bottom of the hill is 19.82 m/s
