A high school teacher went to a field trip with some of the students from two of his algebra classes.There are 10 more girls than boys in these classes A total of 18 students attended the field trip. If 30 percent of the girls and 20 percent of the boys attended, how many boys and how many girls went to the field trip?

g = b +10
180 = 3(b + 10) + 2b
180 = 3b + 30 +2b
150 = 5b
b = 30 so g = 40
20% of 30 = 6 boys went on the trip
30% of 40 = 12 girls went on the trip
