Problema Solution

Richard is planning to enlarge a retanngular space with a lenght os 9FT and a width of 7ft so that the new area is 105ft squared.

1. how much should the new length be enlarged?

2. what will the lenght of the enlarged space be?

Answer provided by our tutors

Length of the rectangular space =9 ft., and width  of the same space = 7 ft.

Let the new length of the rectangular space be x ft. Therefore, the area of the new space with length x ft and width 7 ft is 7x ft squared.

By the given problem,

7x = 105,

or, x = 105/7 = 15.

Therefore,

(a) The length of the space should enlarge by (15-9) ft = 6 ft.

(b) The length of the enlarge space will be 15 ft.
