One leg of a right triangle has a length of 3m. The other sides have lengths that are consecutive intergers. Find these lengths.

use the pythagorean theorem. let one missing side be x and the other be x + 1
32 + x2 = (x+1)2
9 + x2 = x2 + 2x + 1
9 = 2x + 1
8 = 2x
4 = x
so the other lengths are 4 and x +1 is 4 + 1, or 5
so the other leg is 4 inches and the hypotenuse is 5 inches
