the scale on the aaa map of colorado is approximately 3/4 inch to 15 miles. I the distane to Denver to Pueblo measures 5.5 inches on the map. how apart are the two cities.

Here comes the solution..
Lets see 3/4 as 0.75
For 0.75 inch it takes 15 miles, then how many miles for 5.5 inch.
Whenever doing such kind of problems, follow this simple strategy
0.75 - 15
5.5 - X
Cross multiply them
0.75*X = 15*5.5
X=(15*5.5)/0.75
X=110 Miles
So the answer is 110 Miles :)
