Problema Solution
If an object is propelled upward from a height of s feet at an initial velocity of v feet per second, then it's height h after t seconds is given by the equation h=-16^2+ vt +s, where h is in feet. If the object is propelled from a height of 4 feet with an initial velocity of 64 ft per second, it's height is given in equations h= -16t^2+64t+4
How many seconds is the height 64. Feet????
Answer provided by our tutors
substitute 4 for s, 64 for v, and 64 for h
then solve for t
64 = -16t2 + 64t + 4
16t2 - 64t + 60 = 0
use the quadratic formula to get
t = 2.5 and t = 1.5
so the object has a height of 64 feet at 1.5 seconds while going up and 2.5 seconds while coming down
