You have to solve for gallon /per mile, and then relate to miles traveled. If the car uses 11 gallons of gas to go 110 miles, then how much gas will it take to go 340 miles? Fortunately (per) ( / ) is the same thing as a division sign, so divide 11 by 110 and you will get (0.1). this is how many gallons of gas (or rather what fraction of a gallon of gas) it will take a car to go 11 miles. then multiply by 340 to get gallons it would take to do that 340 times.
So it would take 34 gallons to travel 340 miles.
