Let us assume that the NASDAQ is still at its peak of 5000 and dropped 50% to 2500 points. How many percentage does it have to go up again to get back to 5000 points? Why the difference if any between the percentage decrease and percentage increase?

Solution: the old =2500,
The new = 5000
Change or make up = 5000-2500=2500
percent increase =2500 ÷ 2500 =1 =100%
