Problema Solution

A lens has a focal length of 6 centimeters. How far is an object from a lens when its image is three times far away?

Answer provided by our tutors

f= 6cm

If the object is x(=p) dist away from the lens then its image is 3x(=i) dist away from lens

As we know

(1/p)+(1/i)=(1/f)

(1/x)+(1/3x)=(1/6)

Solving we get

x=8cm

So object is 8cm apart
