Bianca and Lisa leave the same point at the same time. Bianca is bicycling west at a rate of 2mph faster than Lisa, who is traveling south. After one hour, they are 10 miles apart, how fast is each person traveling? (Hint use Pythagorean theorem)

Solution: the Pythagorean theorem is a^2+b^2=c^2,
Set the rate of Lisa is X,
Each length of the three size iz C = 10, A = X*1h, B = (X+2)*1h
the equation is 100 = X^2 + (X+2)^2
0=X^2 + 2X - 48
SO X = 6 ,
The rate of Bianca and Lisa are 8 and 6
