A par-course path 570 yds long is divided into three parts. The first two parts are of equal length and the third part is 50yds longer than the first part. Find the lengths of each of the three parts.
Let x be the equal legth part, y be the third part.
y=x+50.
x+x+y=570.
x+x+x+50=570.
3x=570-50.
3x=520.
x=520/3=173.33 yd.
y=x+50 =173.33+50=223.33 yd.
length of two eaual parts =173.33 yd each.
length of third part =223.33 yd.
