You are knitting a scarf for your friend and want to have it finished by 6pm. You want the scarf to be 60 inches long when it is complete. At 1pm you have already knitted 15 inches of the scarf, and you estimate that from this point on you can knit at the rate of 1/4 inch per minute.
1) Find the length of the scarf at 2:30pm and 3:20pm

1 pm: 15 inches
1/4 inch per minute = 15 inches per hour
so 2 pm: 15 + 15 = 30 inches
2:30 pm: 30 + 7.5 = 37.5 inches
3 pm: 30 + 15 = 45 inches
20 more minutes: 1/4 * 20 = 5 more inches
3:20 pm: 45 + 5 = 50 inches
