dextrose 5% in water (d5w) is useful to provide liquids and energy to a body via IV. anything over 5% consentration is hypertonic (can draw water out of cells) and can only be infuse slowly. the doctor has order dextrose 10% in water (d10w) to be administer. you have a partial-fill container with 200 ml of dextrose 30% in water (d30w) and must delute it to 10%. tou have no pure sterile water on hand so will use d5w instead. how much d5w should you add to the container to deluts the d30w to d10w

x amount of 5% water need to be added.
200 = 200*0.3 ml is water and 200*0.7 ml is the destrose.
(200*0.3+x*0.05)/(200+x) = 0.1
60+0.05x=20+0.1x
40 = 0.05x
