Problema Solution

Jacob is 25 years older than Matthew. Six years from now, he will be three years more than thrice as old as Matthew. How old are they now?

Answer provided by our tutors

If jacob is x years old. Then mathews is (x-25) years.

Six year later, Jacob's age = (x+6)

Mathew's age = (x-25+6) = (x-19).

Since, he will be thrice plus three years, the mathews age.

3(x-19)+3 = (x+6)

or, 3x-57+3 = x+6

or, 2x = 60

so, x = 30

So, Jacob is 30 years

Mathews is 5 years.
