Problema Solution

one hot summer day, Alberta bought an ice cream cone with 3 scoops of ice cream. Her choices were vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. How many difernt ways could the 3 scoops of ice cream be placed on the cone?

Answer provided by our tutors

It depends if all three flavors must appear on the cone.

If repeats are allowed, each scoop can be either vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. 3 scoops, each with 3 possibilities, makes 3^3 arrangements for 27 total.

If repeats are not allowed, and order still matters, there are only six combinations. (3! = 3*2*1 = 6), VCS, VSC, CSV, CVS, SVC, SCV.
