Problema Solution

A building has a rectangular base. The length of the base measures 60ft less then twice the width. The perimeter of the base is 840ft. What are the demensions of the base?

Answer provided by our tutors

LENGTH = L

WIDTH = W

GIVEN L=2W-60

PERIMETER = 2*(L+W) = 840

         ==> 2*(2W-60+W) = 840

                  3W-60 = 420  ==> W=160 AND L=260
