Problema Solution

In a chemistry class,9 liters of 4% silver iodide solution must be mixed with 10% solution to get a 6% solution. How many liters of the 10% solution are needed?

Answer provided by our tutors

Let, x be the amount of 10% solution.

Now we can equate the amount of silver iodide.

The amount of silver iodide in the 6% solution = The amount of silver iodide in the 4% solution

+ The amount of silver iodide in the 10% solution

6% of (9+x) = 4% of 9 + 10% of x

6(9+x)=4*9 + 10x

x = 4.5

So, 4.5 liters of 10% solution is required
